Gamespot firing editor because of low score?

Well now, if you guys have been paying attention, one of Gamespot’s editor was recently let go after he had given a game by Eidos, Kane and Lynch a low score, and had a scathing written review for it.  The controversy behind this was that was he let go for other reasons as well, or was Eidos threatening to pull its add campaign from Gamespot enough to force GS’s hand to fire this editor?

It will be a sad day if Gamespot did indeed bow to Eidos and fired one of their editors because of a bad review.  That basically means all reviews on all of these big gaming sites is going to have an asterisk right next to it.  What is this asterisk?  It’s that it could have been paid for.  What does that mean for people wanting to know about game reviews?  Basically, do not trust any review sites.  Especially the big ones.

Instead, look to small gaming blogs like Project Tideas for your most objective reviews.  I might like the PS3, but I will tell you a bad game when I play one, and we will never be in any company’s pocket.  That’s the Project Tideas promise.

Makes you wonder about other sites doesn’t it?  Like 1UP and their love of Xbox games.  Careful guys.  You’re on thin ice.  Don’t give the fanboys more ammunitions than they already need.

We already have enough conspiracy theory.
